Description

I was involved in a film trial with Kodak in the 1980’s testing their newly introduced black and white film known as “T-Max.”  This photograph is a negative print which combines two negatives, and two different film formats: One image is from a window display at Marshall Field’s in Chicago (35mm film), the other from Spanish Mission ruins in southern Arizona (120 medium format film).

I had always admired the tonal values when studying a negative prior to printing and sometimes find the negative more aesthetically pleasing than the positive print itself: Not only the mysterious qualities it conveys, it also offers a historical look into photography and the  photographers’ never-ending quest in the making of that impossibly perfect negative!
